As the Flor de Caña Sustainable Cocktail Challenge (SSC) Global Finals kicked off, all guests arrived in the vibrant city of Managua, Nicaragua. Our entry into the country was nothing short of spectacular; we were treated to a VIP experience right from the start. Ernesto, our gracious host, warmly welcomed everyone as we entered the VIP lounge. He invited us to enjoy refreshing beverages and mingle with fellow participants while our personal concierge service efficiently handled passport stamping and luggage collection.

Luxurious Accommodations and Poolside Relaxation
Once our travel formalities were complete, we boarded buses headed for the Intercontinental Managua Metro Center Hotel. The service at this IHG property was impeccable, from the welcoming attendants to the front desk staff who made our check-in process swift and pleasant. After settling into our rooms, I joined some of the judges for a little poolside relaxation, a much-needed respite after hours of travel. We indulged in Flor de Caña Seltzers, with the passionfruit flavor being a personal favorite. Adding to the ambiance, we were entertained by the charismatic Danil Nevsky (@cocktailman) and Chris Leavitt (@notjustabartender).

A Night to Remember at the Welcome Reception
As the sun set, we prepared for the highly anticipated welcome night reception. Flor de Caña truly pulled out all the stops for this event. Multiple cocktail stations were set up, each serving exquisite Flor de Caña cocktails that delighted the palate. Passed hors d’oeuvres complemented the drinks, while last year’s winner, Jez, crafted exceptional cocktails for us to enjoy. A lively DJ spun tunes that kept the energy high throughout the evening.
Our second day in Nicaragua was a deep dive into the heart and soul of Flor de Caña, a brand with a compelling purpose. Our journey took us to Chichigalpa, Nicaragua, a site rich in history and innovation. Here, we explored the intricate processes and sustainable practices that define Flor de Caña.
